The single arm davit crane is a freestanding deck mounted davit consisting of a davit arm, column and a rescue boat winch. It is mainly used for lifting and lowering a rescue boat/life raft or other types of raft whose lowering load is not more than 25kN. The boat is lowered by means of remote control, the crew can release and stop the hand brake of the winch from the boat by wire connection to the brake arm and wire spool on the winch. Alternatively the crew can operate the hand brake on the deck. Slewing out the davit arm is realized manually by means of a crank handle.
The single arm davit is slewed by electric or hydraulic power and it launches the boat to the water surface by the boat own gravity. It slews the boat or raft outboard under the condition of loss of electricity. While launching, the passengers could pull the remote control cable in the boat to launch or stop rescue boat or raft. As well, the crews can operate it on the deck.
It is designed to meet the SOLAS 1974, the International lifesaving appliance rules LSA and IMO, MSC81(70) and other regulatory requirements like MED for Europe.
